George R. Kanellis, President - Kanellis & Associates, Portland, OR
George Kanellis has worked with MMC personnel for over 15 years in the aerospace industry providing airline ROI analysis for a variety of airborne systems. George has 40 years of aviation-related experience with Boeing, Nova Northwest, Flight Dynamics and Rockwell Collins. At Boeing, he held senior positions in Engineering Liaison and moved to Sales and Marketing after completing his MBA. As a Marketing Analyst, he developed quantitative methods that were adopted for airline analysis and fleet planning applications, and contributed to over $11 Billion of airplane sales with major accounts in Europe and in the US. As Regional Director of Sales for Northern Europe, he was the focal point for airplane marketing in the Netherlands and Scandinavia.
George’s work has been published in the Handbook of Airline Finance and has been used in university studies at the graduate level at the University of New South Wales Aviation Management School. He has been a guest speaker at several conferences including AvMark, SpeedNews, the International Aviation Safety Seminar and the Norwegian Marketing Conference. George has consulted to aviation industry clients and lending institutions on aspects of airline operating economics, airplane valuations, business plan reviews, and the assessment of advanced technologies.
Mr. Kanellis holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University and an MBA from Pacific Lutheran University. He has been an instructor for airplane evaluation seminars and has completed several management development programs at Boeing and later, at Rockwell Collins.
Chad W. Jennings PhD, President – Lightening Ridge Technologies, Seattle, WA
Dr. Chad Jennings has been involved with MMC personnel on a number of aerospace projects related to the development of Enhanced and Synthetic Vision Systems (EVS, SVS). In 2000, Chad co-founded Nav3D, a San Carlos, California based company that pioneered many of the aspects of SVS in conjunction with teams from Boeing, BAE Systems and NASA including EVS, SVS and Highway-in-the-Sky (HITS). Their early work in developing “wireframe” imagery for presentation on a HUD is well known and still in use today.
In 2006, Nav3D was sold to Mercury Computer Systems where Chad headed up business development for the SVS activities. He led the Mercury team working with BAE Systems in Australia and Ontario, California to develop an SVS-based solution for helicopter brown-out scenarios. He was a key player in the sale of Mercury's SVS division to Honeywell in 2008. He also led the development of the SVS/EVS integration for the company’s Class 2 EFB called VistaNav (now AV8OR Vision3D from Honeywell).
Dr. Jennings graduated in 2003 with a PhD in Aero/Astro from Stanford University where he developed software for the world’s first SVS display of airborne traffic. He was the recipient of the RTCA’s 2005 Jackson Award for outstanding thesis on aviation electronics and telecommunications. He is the author of one patent and over 20 technical papers on EVS and SVS.
